He prepares a perfect home reserved for us in a place with no more sorrow, sickness, or sin. We are given everything.
At the same time, there is an enemy of our souls who tries to keep us in the darkness. When he fails and we come to the Lord, he will stop at nothing to make us useless, ineffective and compromising. Satan wants us to fail.
I have heard it said by a pastor in America that when we get saved we are not on the playground, but on the battleground.
The devil and demons are real. They are fallen angels who hate God and thus hate those who are created in the image of God, those on whom God desires to pour His love and grace. As the apple of God’s eye, as His beloved bride, we become targets of the enemy of God.
We must realize that this enemy:
- Tempts Us to Sin- Genesis 3:1-5, Matthew 4:1, 1 Thessalonians 3:5
Whereas GOD gives us the strength to stand against temptation: 1 Corinthians 10:13, Philippians 4:13, 2 Peter 1:3-4
- Accuses us once we have sinned- Revelation 12:10
Whereas GOD forgives us and sees us as pure through the blood of Jesus: Isaiah 1:18, Luke 7:47-50, 1 Timothy 2:3-6, 1 John 1:7
- Lies to us- John 8:44, 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10, 1 Timothy 4:1, Revelation 12:9
Whereas GOD is truth, and His Word directs us in truth: John 8:32, John 14:6, John 17:17
- Seeks to devour and destroy us- 1 Peter 5:8
Whereas GOD seeks to restore and save us: Isaiah 1:18, Luke 15:11-32, Luke 19:10, Romans 10:9, Hebrews 7:25, 1 John 1:9
As believers in Jesus, we do not need to fear Satan because:
The One in us is greater – 1 John 4:4
His perfect love towards us and in us casts out all fear- 1 John 4:18
- But –
We do need to be aware of his schemes and tactics.
We need to be in the Word, in prayer, in fellowship.
We need to stand firm in the Lord and ask for His strength to stand against all of the wiles of the devil.
