Just when you think you will be in a certain story forever, the page turns and the next chapter awaits. After thinking I may be blazing trails alone for the rest of my life, the page has turned. I’m officially engaged to the best man I have ever known. I’m so excited for all that is in store for us ahead. Robb has been a part of my life for the last six years, but now we will join hand in hand to go through the valleys and peaks together.
Sometimes we all feel like our lives are on pause while everyone else is speeding ahead. My life certainly doesn’t fit into any normal American mold. I can focus on why it took so long for Robb and I to get together, or I can enjoy that our time has come and know that he was worth the wait. I have spent the last 8 years living to the fullest and enjoying the moments that God puts before me each day. Now we will get to do that together. Life is short, and the blessings are sweet. Today I feel the favor of God in a new and special way.
I’m traveling to the US tonight for my furlough and will have to leave my love for two months; but I’m excited to see my family and friends there, and I know that if I have waited all these years, these months will be a breeze. It is a mysterious adventure this life is, and I have no idea what will happen with the twists and turns ahead. That’s the joy of the unknown.
Hardships will certainly come, but so will blessings. We should enjoy the moments that we do have with the ones we love, and make the most of every opportunity we are given.
