Each of us was created for a purpose. Contrary to what some say, you were not a mistake. You are valuable. You were handcrafted by the Living God who breathed life into you. God has good plans for your life.
He has a purpose for you.
We can flounder for years and just survive through life, not knowing what the purpose is, not knowing what OUR purpose is. The truth is, though, we don’t have to. God has approached the world in the form of Jesus. He has spoken to us through the Bible, His Word. He is available to hear from us and to guide us today through prayer and His Holy Spirit.
Most, if not all, of us want to know what our purpose is on this planet, and what the meaning of life is. We can know. God is not some cosmic bully who wants to watch us run around aimlessly until we die. He is very personal and desires to be active in our lives.
When we know God our Creator, we can learn the purpose for which He created us. We know Him by entering into a relationship with Him.
I have been married since August 2015. Before then I knew my husband, but now I know him on a much deeper level. We haven’t been married for that long, but already I feel that I know him so much more than a year ago. I can only imagine those couples that have been together for 10, 20, or 50 years. The more time we invest in someone, the more we know him or her.
The same applies to our relationship with God. If you want to know your purpose, you must know the God who created you with that purpose. That happens by receiving Him into your life, and spending time with him through prayer, reading His Word, and simply walking with Him.
Knowing God is not a means to an end. Knowing God is the end. It is the purpose of all of life ¾ knowing Him and making Him known.
We will discover a beautiful reality when we meet Jesus ¾ all of our searching and labor for peace and forgiveness have been in vain, all we had to do was enter this place of rest; Resting in God, abiding in Christ, knowing Him. That is our eternal purpose. Then as we spend time with Him, He will direct each one of us.
His plans are good. This doesn’t mean we won’t pass through hard times, but it means He will take the biggest messes and turn them into the most beautiful blessings in the lives of His children.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:8-10
