“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
There used to be an orphanage in Kitgum for babies up to three years old who would have otherwise died. Many were in there because of the rebels. I spent a lot of time in that place my first few years on the mission field. I loved those precious little ones. As they got older, some of them were transferred to Tender Trust Orphanage. I have had the privilege of watching them grow from tiny babies to beautiful, happy children. Not only that, but because of them being at Tender Trust, they have a good biblical foundation. They hear the Word of God and have nightly prayer times. They see what it means to be loved and to follow Jesus. They may have never gotten those opportunities otherwise. What these dear ones have had to endure is unthinkable; but instead of being faceless, nameless victims of a war, they are growing to be more than conquerors through Jesus Christ. They are learning His Word and His love in profound ways. I look at them and I see hope.
Their pain has given birth to new life. They inspire me. They remind me that nothing I go through can defeat me, because God is for me, just as He is for them.
This month I would like to focus on the joys that come after seasons of heartache, and the birthing of new and wonderful things. As any mother could testify to, labor pains are hard. There is so much pain; but in the end, it is all worth it. I want to encourage you that whatever things you have gone through or are going through right now, it will all be worth it. New life is on the way; the victory is yours, because God is for you.
We battle and toil, we cry and struggle, but we have the victory in Christ. We don’t know what the future holds or how every story will unfold, but we do know the ending. (At least, we know it if we have read the Book.)
What do you think?
Are you going through heartache right now? Is someone you love?
How does it change you when you remember that when God is for you, no one and nothing can be against you?
